In this fascinating class where digital meets traditional art practices, Kristina Gosh guides campers through the world of Thaumatropes and zoetropes, old-timey animation toys that are incredibly fun to make! Long before film and video were invented, people would entertain themselves by making these whirling image wheels to delight their friends and family. Campers will create their own theme/story that comes to life through these toys and flipbooks, while learning about the fascinating history of moving pictures and translate their stories into digital formats using iMovie, GIFs and animation software. They will take walking trips around the Art Center and Recreation Path to collect inspiration for their moving stories. Online portfolios will be created for each camper to document their artwork and creative process.
