Artist Opportunities

The art center is driven by an ambitious curatorial vision shaped by the pursuit of meaning in contemporary art. Our programs consider how the arts can be a platform for activism, responding to contemporary issues facing artists and audiences, offering outlets for creative dialogue and critical examination of our social, cultural, and political moment. We strive to amplify underrepresented voices and urgent issues through our programs.

Our main exhibitions are thoughtfully curated and artist participation is by invitation only.

As part of our mission, we strive to be a resource for emerging and established artists in the following ways:

  • Access to international exhibitions with world renowned artists

  • Opportunity to learn from exhibiting artists, curators, and professionals from around the world through our monthly free public programs

  • Annual unjuried opportunity to exhibit in our Members’ Art Show + Sale (individual membership required)

  • Periodic portfolio and critique classes for artists (scholarships + tuition assistance available)

  • Adult classes to further studio skill development (scholarships + tuition assistance available)

  • Studio rental in our ceramic and glass studios (monthly or annual fees apply)

  • Annual meet and greet event hosted by The Current with fellow artists, curators, and other art professionals. This includes individual portfolio reviews with mentors, a group social hour, and introductions to others within the field. (registration will be required)

  • We invite you to submit your portfolio for review by our exhibitions team. This is NOT an open call for an exhibition, this is an opportunity to have your work seen by our curators. Our exhibitions are by invitation only. Submissions are reviewed twice a year. Due to the number of submissions received, we cannot give individual feedback; however, if the exhibitions team is interested in connecting with you about a studio visit or other opportunities, they will be in touch. Artists may only submit once per year. Unsolicited work submitted in any other fashion will not be reviewed.

To benefit from the above, we invite you to sign up here to be on our mailing list.

ALL ARTISTS are valued by The Current. We encourage artists to remain engaged with The Current, the community of artists here, to join as a member, to take advantage of the opportunities here.
