The Helen Day Art
Center, in Stowe, Vermont, is seeking
artist’s to participate in the 15th
annual Exposed! 08 Outdoor Sculpture
Exhibition, running from July 11th through
October 11th, 2008.
Sculptors may apply in
any medium that can endure the outdoors in
a public setting for 3 months. All
sculptures must be securely mounted to the
ground at the designated site, and be made
safe for children and pedestrian
traffic.
Sculptures will be
installed on the Helen Day Art Center
lawn, on Main Street and neighboring
streets, along the 5 mile recreation path,
and in other highlighted sites in the Town
of Stowe, Vermont. The Exposed! Curator
will assign the sites to the
sculptors.
All sculptors are
responsible for the transportation,
installation, de-installation of their
work and returning the specific site used
to its original condition. Sculptors may
apply for stipends to help with the
transport and installation costs of their
pieces. Please see the application for
details and deadlines.
Each Sculpture will be
identified with a nameplate provided by
the HDAC.
Free ‘walking tour’ maps
locating the sculptures and identifying
the sculptors, will be made available to
the public by HDAC. HDAC will send PR kits
with info on the sculptors to the media.
HDAC will provide postcard announcements
to the public, and to the sculptors. The
exhibit will be publicized on the HDAC
website.
HDAC will monitor the
condition of the sculpture on a weekly
basis. HDAC does not insure the
sculpture.
The Sculptor is
responsible for assigning a retail price,
from which HDAC claims 30% commission.
