The Helen Day Art Center (HDAC) is proud to announce the fourth biennial
Best of the Northeast Masters of Fine Arts exhibition, featuring work from current MFA candidates in New England, New York, and Quebec, from June 16 - August 26, 2017.
This exhibition will feature artwork from current MFA candidates enrolled in any MFA program in New England, New York, and Quebec.

MFA candidates in any year of study in fine arts MFA programs in New England (VT, RI, NH, ME, MA, CT), New York State, and Quebec are invited to submit their work and proposals, including those enrolled in low-residency programs.
The following disciplines are welcome: sculpture, painting, drawing, photography, video, performance, social practice, sound, fiber, ceramics, and metals. Artists of color, female, queer, and trans artists are encouraged to apply.
Selectivity, Curatorial Approach, and Stipends
Up to six individuals will be chosen for the fourth biennial exhibition. The six artists whose work is included the exhibition will receive a $250 stipend for their participation and may expect to exhibit between one and ten works depending on scale and complexity and at the discretion of the curator. HDAC will make every effort to accommodate and facilitate the vision of the selected artists within the resources of the Center.
- Up to ten visual files (.jpeg, .mp4, and/or .mp3)
- Image description list with Title, Year, Medium, and Price (if applicable)
- Artist statement or proposal in PDF format
- Updated CV in PDF format, including contact information and MFA program where enrolled
- Applications should not exceed 10MB.
- Video applicants are encouraged to send a link to their Vimeo accounts.
Deadline for submission: Sunday, March 19th, 2017 - Midnight EST
Notification, Opening, Attendance, Promotion/Permission:
Selected Artists will be notified by April 7, 2017 via email.
Exhibition opens June 16, 2017 and runs through August 26, 2017.
Exhibiting artists are expected to attend the opening reception and artist's tour of the exhibition on June 16th. HDAC will provide lodging and dinner for the night of the reception when possible and when an exhibiting artist provides sufficient advance notice.
By submitting work for consideration, the artist agrees that HDAC may use said submitted images, audio, video, artist information, statements, etc. for the purpose of promotion with attribution and without restriction. We will post the selected work on our website at http://www.helenday.com. Stipends will be delivered after the close of the exhibition on the condition that the artist has complied with their contract to Helen Day Art Center including the safe delivery of the artwork at the time designated by HDAC prior to the exhibition and installation and de-installation of their work at the time designated by HDAC.
Accepted artists will be notified by HDAC and provided dates for the delivery of their work to the center. Artists are responsible for transporting their artwork to and from HDAC. All works will be for sale during the exhibition unless otherwise indicated by the artist. Helen Day Art Center's commission on sales is 35%.
