If such a thing exists, then yes: Mikey Welsh
A self-taught representational and abstract painter based in Burlington, VT. Influenced by Jean Michel Basquiat, Willem DeKooning and Jackson Pollock. Distorted faces and figures leap from the canvas.
"It was a real leap for me to get into abstract. I’d had so much success with my figurative paintings, but it felt like I had done everything I could do with it. Sort of like with my music. With abstract, there are millions of options for how a picture can be painted. Figurative? There’s a lot of limitations on what you can do. I wanted to continue on without limits.”
