HELEN DAY IS ON THE ROAD AGAIN! This
time we’re heading for the Gala 400th Anniversary
Celebration of Quebec City, cradle of French
civilization in North America. Quebec City’s copper
roofs, historical fortifications, cobblestone streets,
fascinating museums, exceptional restaurants, and
imposing architecture draw visitors into an art of
living that is like no other in North America. Please
join us as we celebrate the culture, music, and festive
spirit that are uniquely Quebec City!
ITINERARY
Tuesday, July 8th
Leave Stowe at 7:00 am on our private motor coach. Enjoy a continental breakfast on the road.
Picnic at beautiful Mont Morency Park. Marvel at
the awe-inspiring falls bordered by trails and lookouts
offering an unforgettable scenic panorama. Stroll
through the elegant Manoir Montmorency.
Grand Tour of Old Quebec City, beginning at the
Place d’Armes, adjacent to Dufferin Terrace with its
grand vistas of the St. Lawrence landscape. The tour
will lead visitors through the history and landmarks of
the Upper and Lower Towns, ending in the oldest part
of this World Heritage Site, Place Royale.
Check in at Hotel L’Aristocrate. Enjoy a meal at the
hotel’s award-winning restaurant, La Fenouilliere or
at other restaurants in the area.
Wednesday, July 9th
Breakfast is available at the Hotel L’Aristocrate.
Board the bus for a visit to the Chateau Frontenac.
Explore the luxurious interior of the “world’s most
photographed hotel” from the perspective of a 19th
century tour guide.
Lunch at the Aux Anciens Canadiens, widely
acclaimed restaurant located in the oldest house
in Quebec City - authentic regional cuisine in the
ambiance of an historic home.
Tour the landmark Musee de la Civilisation located
in the heart of Quebec City’s waterfront just steps
from Place Royale and the Old Port. Explore the
museum’s major traveling exhibition, “Gold in the
Americas.”
Explore the heart of old Quebec on your own, with
ample time to stroll the promenade, take in Place
Royale and the quaint shops of the Quartier du Petit
Champlain, enjoy a ferry ride, go antiquing, and
partake in a myriad of dining and entertainment
options.
Thursday, July 10th
Breakfast is available at Hotel L’Aristocrate.
Board the bus for a visit to the Musee National des
Beaux-Arts and the unique exhibition, “The Louvre
in Quebec City: Arts and Life.” This show has
been described as the most ambitious and generous
loan that the Louvre
has made in its history.
Lunch on your own at
the museum
Depart for home
at 1:00 pm. Hors
